The couplet reading “As the mountain stands tall, it connects the sky; As the river flows long, it merges the sea deep.”

The couplet is hung on ShangaoShuichang Pavilion, with upper inscription reading “Mid-Summer of Bing-Zi Year” and lower inscription reading “Drafted and Written by Luo Minghao. Presented by Zhong Weijia of Kaohsiung, Taiwan”. The black cursive-grass script against a green background of the couplet shows certain calligraphic skills, with natural structure and bold strokes. However, it is dimmed by the faulty layout, where the signature on the right roll is too closer to the bottom and the places of the writer and presenter are swapped. These are the signs that the writer may not be an experienced calligrapher. This couplet employs “High Mountains and Long Rivers” as a metaphor for people’s merit and infusive statements and actions. However, the tone pattern is mistaken with four consecutive level tones in the left roll and totally four level tones in the right roll. This is considered to be unbalanced in couplet writing.
